Room in room Curtains divide the canteen and absorb the sound
In a school canteen, each class was to sit in its own visually separate area, without building walls. For this, BÜTEC made a Studio curtain rail to measure, curved it at the points set by the architect and fitted it with curtain fabrics that also act as acoustic absorbers.

The task
One large room, to be divided into areas
Separate the classes visually
Each class was to have its own area in the canteen, without fixed walls.
Calm the acoustics
A large dining hall echoes. The room division was also to absorb sound.
The architect's specifications
The architect set the route and curves of the rail. The ceiling is high; the suspension is over 2 m long.

Sway-free suspensions
For the ceiling suspension of over 2 m, sway-free, height-adjustable suspensions were developed and produced, as were the wall brackets.
Curtains operated by hand
Depending on budget and use, curtains can be moved by hand or by motor. Here the choice was manual operation.
Touch patches against wear
Where the fabric is touched and pulled, touch patches are sewn on. They protect the fabric from excessive wear.
Fabric as absorber
The curtain fabrics also act as acoustic absorbers. Their colours match the stage base and the seating.
