Our advice

Main curtain, wings, back curtain How much fabric each curtain needs

The fullness – the extra fabric that forms the folds – decides how full a curtain looks, and so how much fabric you buy. Our recommendation:

  • Main curtain: 100 % fullness

    The fabric lies in close folds side by side. Depending on light and colour, the main curtain makes a strong impression.

  • Wing curtains: the colour of the back curtain

    For more depth, in the same colour as the back curtain, usually black. Fullness as for the main curtain; with a smaller budget, a simpler fabric and fewer folds.

  • Back curtain: 50 % or flat

    It closes the stage visually and needs no rich folds. Low-cost option: flame-retardant molton.

Room-in-room A canteen divided by class, and quieter

In a school canteen, fabric panels on a curved Studio track divide the room visually by class and dampen the sound at the same time. The fabrics match the stage base and the seating in colour, and touch patches at the pull points protect the fabric.

Questions about curtains and fabrics

What fire rating do the fabrics have?

All fabrics are flame-retardant to DIN 4102 class B1. On request we supply permanently flame-retardant fabrics made of Trevira CS, for example Dimout.

Our budget is tight. Where can we save?

On the back curtain: molton or a plain fabric with 50 % fullness is enough. On the wings: a simpler fabric and fewer folds. And you can start with the main curtain and extend the system step by step.

How accurate are the colours on the sample cards?

They give a first impression; the real fabric colours may differ. Talk to us if you want to match colours.

What do the curtains hang on?

On curtain tracks Studio or Studio Economy, moved by hand or by motor, or on hoist systems for drapes that move up and down.
